You know we love nothing more than sharing updates on the next chapters for our retired sled dogs. Today, we’re bringing Lloyd, who recently celebrated his retirement by playing a very important part in his new family’s wedding, back into the spotlight.
Lloyd officially joined his new family, Eric and Christie Beaumont, in Edmonton, Alberta, on May 6, 2025. This adoption was a perfect match, and a serendipitous one, as well.
“We have always loved floppy-eared dogs and were also always drawn towards Huskies. We had always dreamt about a floppy-eared husky with an old man name,” Eric and Christie admitted, “Lloyd was basically that to a tee! We couldn’t pass up the opportunity of having him be a part of our family.”
As a couple, Eric and Christie balance each other out, which has been perfect for Lloyd’s retired life. Christie shared, “I love going for runs and enjoying the beautiful river valley Edmonton has.” She mentioned that her husband, Eric, is a little more casual and enjoys walks around the city and relaxing in the yard. “I feel like it’s been the perfect mix for Mr. Lloyd!”
LLOYD’S LIFE AS A RETIRED SLED DOG
As an adventurous couple that enjoys the outdoors, Christie highlights how Lloyd has become the best adventure buddy they could have asked for. Whether it’s a walk in the city, running around the yard, or exploring fields in the country, Lloyd is always excited to explore.
“Mr. Lloyd loves food and eating. A new bone from the farmers market is always his favourite,” Christie added, “And last but not least, belly rubs. He’s a sucker for a good belly rub!”
Although Lloyd’s working days as a sled dog are over, the learning is definitely not done. Christie told us that he has been mastering the skills of a typical house dog. “Since adopting Mr. Lloyd, he has learnt how to sit, shake a paw (aka ‘put er’ there partner), lay down, go through the legs and sit down, get treats from a tricky Kong toy, and make new doggy friends!”
THE ADVENTURE CONTINUES
We vet all of our adopters extensively to ensure our dogs go to the best homes possible. These two could not have been a more perfect fit, and for Christie and Eric, adopting Lloyd was everything they expected and more.
“Having Mr. Lloyd has brought so much laughter and joy into our lives. He is such a goofball at times, and we love it,” the couple shared. “He has brought us on more adventures than ever before, and we couldn’t be more grateful for that.”
In just a few months, Lloyd has come so far, from learning new tricks to exploring new places; he really has found his forever home. Christie concluded, “He has given us a little family and the adventure buddy we didn’t know we needed.”
Here’s to a life of adventure and love for this beautiful Beaumont family and their new floppy-eared best friend.
