Sled Dog Touring Instructor / Guide

Do you enjoy dogs and working outdoors? Are you friendly, personable and hardworking? We may be the right fit for you! We offer full-time positions with year-round opportunities. Imagine spending your winter outdoors in the beautiful wonderland of Kananaskis Country, commanding your own team of husky heroes. Be part of a fun work environment with a focus on dog care, well being and ethics.

  • Capable of handling energetic and powerful sled dogs
  • Able to thrive in busy, fast-paced atmosphere
  • Able to speak fluent English
  • Capable of working alone in remote areas


  • Legally be able to work in Canada
  • Hold a current First AID and CPR certification

Preference is given to individuals with:

  • Driver’s license and a minimum of 3 years driving in winter conditions
  • Clean driver’s abstract
  • Skid steer experience
  • Chainsaw and axe knowledge/skill
  • Snowmobile, snowshoe and trail groomer knowledge/skill
  • Experience with two-way radios
  • A wide range of tools knowledge/skill
  • Carpentry skills
  • Large vehicle maintenance knowledge/skill
  • Trailer driving experience and maintenance skill
  • Experience using tire chains
  • Mechanical experience
  • Outdoor guiding experience
  • Sled dog handling experience
  • Sled dog guiding experience
  • Veterinary experience
  • Animal husbandry experience

Before applying, please consider the following about the position:

  • 6-month commitment
  • No holidays
  • Outdoor work: exposure to cold weather, inclement and unpredictable weather
  • Labor-intensive

Wage: $18 to $25 an hour depending on experience + tips/gratuity. Retention bonus of up to $1/hr paid at the end of the season. Please note that staff accommodation is not available.
