Your name and the name of your beloved husky hero!
My name is Paul and my husky hero is Bambam!
Where do you live?
We live on Vancouver Island, in a little town called Cumberland.
When did you adopt your retired sled dog?
Adopted end of October 2021.
Describe your family, partner, kids and other animals?
It is just me and my two boys, 6 and 3. No other animals in our immediate family.
What motivated you to adopt a retired sled dog?
Always been drawn to this breed and have owned similar dogs in the past. Just felt right and was in a good stage of my life to help give a husky hero a great retirement.
What do you love most about having an adoptee sled dog join your family?
I love his endless energy, curiosity, and personality. He has already brought a ton of joy and laughs to our family.
What 3 activities does your adoptee enjoy the most?
Bam loves his daily (multiple required!!):
- adventure walks out back by our place
- learning to be a mountain bike trail dog
- his Friday “pack walks” with the local groomer in town as he is making lots of new buddies
What new skills did your husky hero learn since living with you?
He has learned to sit, stay and come when I call him. We are working on lie down.
Did adopting a retired sled dog meet all your expectations?
Absolutely and beyond. Big thanks to the Snowy Owl Team, especially Mackenzie for taking the time to meet with me and the various possible adoptees last fall.
