Grip the handlebar as you take your place on the sled runners. Inhale the crisp mountain air, exhale as your frosty breath surrounds you. Adventure is in the air. “Hike!” you shout with enthusiasm; as your team guides you through entwined forests of towering black spruce, tranquil streams, quaint bridges, frozen lakes and the echoing stillness of the Canadian Rockies.
What a dream come true, would definitely recommend this to everyone, couples and families!!
Will and Saskia were amazing tour guides, helping us feel comfortable driving our own sledge with all... read more the commands and techniques. Saskia talked us through the drive, but also trusted us to feel we were in control of our own sledge!
And the dogs... The bond you create with your team is incredible, and all the cuddles of course, priceless!

Too bad PETA activists have been vandalizing review pages on all sled dog places in Canmore area so I couldn't get a reliable review source from google maps to compare... read more them. Anyways, we decided to go with Snowy Owl because they let customers drive their own sled. AThis was an awesome experience. The staff is great. They treat the dogs very well and you can sense they are all affectionate about their dogs. The dogs are happy and all friendly waiting for some hugs and play. They will jump on you, lick, give paw etc. We have a husky at home and various moments I couldn't avoid thinking about our dog. I could see the sleds dogs have way more fun, interactions, exercise than our lovely Takaya husky has in our boring routine at home. Various moments I was imagining how excited our dog would be in that place pulling the sled along with other paws...
The place is beautiful. The route is thrilling. I did this tour with my 10 years old son. I was afraid of letting him drive the sled, so I drove the first half. At the half way stop on top of the frozen surface of Spray Lakes, he was asking to take the driver spot. I was hesitant, but the guide did a recap with him and she was confident he would handle it. He drove the sled the rest of the tour. Now I can say he did better than me, specially on turns following the instructions from our guide by the book... ? I can't say enough how grateful I am to see the expression of accomplishment in his face.
My son also went crazy when he learned one of the Husky dogs was in the Disney movie Togo. One of his favourite movies.
Thank you so much to all the staff. Keep up the good work and the love you have for the dogs.
