Reservations Policies
Our office hours are 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Tuesday – Saturday from May until October, then 8am to 8pm from November until April!
It is best to book your individual booking at least a week in advance to avoid disappointment; however we will take a reservation up to the day of, if available.
Group bookings should be made at least one month in advance, due to the popularity of our tours. Larger groups should consider booking six months in advance. We define a group as any number over ten guests.
Snowy Owl Tours are capable of accommodating almost any size of group.
Each sled is pulled by 6 to 8 marvelous huskies. Our close-knit crew excels in accommodating individuals as well as groups. Some trips require minimum numbers of participants.
Please read the below content carefully as you will be required to sign a contractual agreement regarding this information when reserving a program with Snowy Owl Sled Dog Tours. All guests participating in our programs will also be required to read, understand, and sign our liability waiver.
Group Payment Procedures
Any tour reservation that is 10 people or higher is considered a group reservation. A 50% deposit must be received at the time of your reservation. The remaining 50% must be paid in full at least seven days prior your tour program.
If you cancel your group within 14 days of your tour, you will forfeit half of your 50% deposit. If you cancel within seven days of your tour, you will be charged the full amount of the tour program reserved. You will also receive full reimbursement of all deposits if we must cancel for any reason (Due to weather conditions for example). We accept company cheques, Visa, MasterCard, or cash.
Individual Payment Procedures
Reservations made in advance through the Snowy Owl office in Canmore are required to be paid in full at the time of booking. Our office accepts cash, MasterCard, Visa and Interac.
Cancellations Policies
We will be in full operation unless the temperatures are colder than -25C, taking the wind chill factor into consideration in the Canmore area. Guests at this point will have the option to cancel or reschedule at no charge to them. We
will be in full operation unless temperatures are higher than +15C. In these temperatures it can be dangerous for our huskies to run and pull. In this case Snowy Owl Sled Dog Tours has the right to cancel the tour. If either parties are involved in traffic related mishaps where they cannot reach their destination; and “Official” road closure due to avalanche hazards or poor driving conditions will be acceptable. These unpleasant events will require statements from the RCMP, towing companies, or road maintenance companies. If the roads are passable and are not officially closed by authorities we will expect guests to arrive at their scheduled meeting time. If illness is a factor, the necessary certificates will be requested from a qualified physician. Only the persons who are ill will be excused – all others must join the tour.
If we do experience any of the above listed misfortunes, cancellation will be accepted, providing all certificates are in order. In these cases a full refund of all deposits will be given to the group or the individual. Cancellations will not be accepted due to “mistakes” made on the guest’s part or of tour operators, their employees, their clients or none Snowy Owl transportation personnel, hotel employees, or clients. “Hangovers” are not an acceptable reason for cancellation.
Transportation
Transportation services are included in the tour prices from Canmore or Banff for our winter tours. Please confirm this with our office upon making your reservation. Transportation does have some limitations as well as minimum guest requirements.
